hk prize is an award given to a person or persons who have made significant contributions in the fields of astronomy, life science and medicine, or mathematical sciences. The prize consists of a cash award, a plaque, and a certificate. The winner may also be invited to attend a ceremony held in Hong Kong. The award was established in 2002 by the late entertainment mogul Run Run Shaw. It is one of the most prestigious prizes in Hong Kong.

The winner of the HK Prize in 2024 was Pakistani artist Sameen Agha, whose marble sculpture A Home Is a Terrible Place to Love captured human suffering. She was praised by critics for her ability to convey pain and suffering in a seemingly innocuous piece of art. The award was presented at a special ceremony in Hong Kong.

In the Feature Film category, Emperor Motion Pictures won the top three prizes for their dramas, with The Goldfinger — about one of Hong Kong’s biggest financial scandals — taking best cinematography, and Broad Daylight and Mad Fate scooping acting awards for Jennifer Yu and Rachel Leung respectively. The Hong Kong Film Awards, or HKFA, are a series of annual film awards given by the Hong Kong Film Workers Association Ltd.

The BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE aims to reward scientists and research teams in Hong Kong or research-related institutions set up by Hong Kong higher education institutions for their outstanding achievements and discoveries. It is a merit-based award, and no more than five persons (or research teams) should be awarded in any field. The prize also aims to encourage the development of research in Hong Kong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The Hong Kong Student Prize is a yearly competition for high school students in the city that recognizes academic achievement as well as extracurricular participation. Students must be nominated by their teachers to participate, and the winner of each category is awarded a monetary prize and a trophy. The Hong Kong Student Prize is one of the largest contests in Asia for high school students, and finalists can gain international recognition as well as develop a sense of self-challenge. This year, the contest received a total of over 400 entries. The finalists were selected by an esteemed panel of judges. The 10 award categories spanned language, academic achievements, and extracurricular activities, such as service learning, skills, physical recreation, and expeditions. In addition, the grand prize was awarded to a high school student for their essay titled A New Beginning. This year, the judging panel included experts in the fields of education and public health, as well as an eminent Chinese writer. The competition will open for nominations in September and close on 16 November. More information can be found on the HK Student Prize website.
