The South China Morning Post has scooped 12 awards at the Hong Kong News Awards 2024. Senior reporter Edith Lin and news editor Jeffie Lam won the top prize in the Best Scoop category for their work exposing unauthorised structures built on luxury properties. Their colleagues Kahon Chan, Natalie Wong and Lilian Cheng were also recognised in various categories.
The Hong Kong Marathon title sponsor, Standard Chartered Hong Kong, has increased the prize money of the 25th edition to HK$200,000, a record high in the event’s history. Runners who finish the Marathon Challenge category in under 3 hours for men and sub 3:30 for women will each receive a special incentive award of HK$10,000. The new prize will encourage more local runners to join the race, which is open to all permanent residents of Hong Kong.
HK$200,000 Prize for Art Competition
The Hongkong MoA is launching the HK$200,000 prize for outstanding student artworks in its 2018 Art Competition. The winning entries will be selected to take part in an exclusive art activity organised by HKMoA, and the nominator for the Champion, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up will receive a shopping voucher. Students who participate in the Art Competition can also apply for scholarships with Wharf for pursuing studies in art.
In addition to the HK$200,000 Prize for outstanding student artworks, the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards, which will be announced in early May, offer a range of prizes for individual artists and arts organisations for their exceptional contributions. The nomination period for the Awards is now open.
HK$188 million mark six prize
The organiser of the biggest Mark Six Lunar New Year snowball draw in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Jockey Club, is offering a hefty HK$188 million for a single winning unit. The prize fund is boosted by 5.25 per cent from last year.
This year’s theme is “Hong Kong in Pictures”. The contest is open to all Hongkongers with a passion for photography and an interest in Hong Kong’s rich cultural heritage. Participants can submit photos capturing the essence of Hong Kong in their own unique ways. The judging panel will select the winner and two honourable mentions.
