The Singapore Prize recognises and honours outstanding published works by Singaporean authors in any of the four official languages. It is awarded biennially and has twelve categories. This year’s prize will be worth SGD 300,000 in cash and a gold medallion.

In addition to the main prize, there are two additional prizes. Firstly, there is the Youth Critic Award. Runners up receive half the money. Second, there is the Golden Horse award.

The winner of the Singapore Prize will also receive an award certificate and a gold medallion. This is in recognition of the city’s first Prime Minister, Lee Kwan Yew. He was instrumental in developing the city into a green, clean and gardened city.

Moreover, the prize is an opportunity for people to express their views. This year, 4,000 readers voted in the consumer choice category. These 4,000 votes were double the amount of voters in 2020.
